The president-elect of the Oxford Union has been ousted from office after losing a vote of confidence that came after his disputed online comments about the conservative activist.
The motion against the student leader achieved the required super-majority to remove him from office, according to an announcement from the society.
The dispute erupted after the student reportedly posted messages on online platforms that seemed to celebrate the death of Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot while addressing a college in Utah.
According to reports, one social media message reportedly stated "Charlie Kirk got shot loool" - using an extended form of the phrase 'lol'.
The student leader is also reported to have posted in a messaging group with fellow students appearing to express approval of the event.
The vote of confidence was conducted over the recent days, with outcomes announced on this week.
Official notices indicated that 1,228 ballots were cast in favor of removal, while just over five hundred were against the motion.
The notice confirmed that the future president was deemed to have stepped down in accordance with the Oxford Union's rules.
Proceedings were informally suspended early on Monday after the returning officer was allegedly subjected to "obstruction, intimidation, and unwarranted hostility" from several representatives.
In a response, the student asserted that the vote tally had been stopped because electoral officials believed "no valid outcome could be reached as a result of process errors".
His statement unequivocally denied that any person appointed by George had engaged in threatening or obstructive conduct.
The president-elect maintained that significant concerns had been submitted to the disciplinary committee and that he continued as the elected leader.
His comment added that he was "proud and thankful to have the backing of well in excess of a majority of students at Oxford" who supported a "safe election and resist attempts to subvert democracy".
Opponents have argued that any decision to keep him would "signal to the world that the society has prioritized politics over principles".
On Friday, Kirk's former chief of staff presented an public message to the society on The Charlie Kirk Show broadcast.
The letter criticized the union of becoming a institution where "student leaders publicly celebrate the assassination of a ideological rival".
The communication warned that if the student were to keep his position, Kirk's allies would "directly reach out to every American political speaker who has ever spoken at the society and advise them against future participation".
The society had previously condemned the student's remarks after Kirk's death and confirmed that complaints filed against him had been referred for official review.
The president-elect had been one of several students to discuss with the activist at the union in spring.
