An aircraft flying over a popular southern California coastline suddenly began spiraling wildly, ultimately descending rapidly and crashing into a row of palm trees as onlookers observed.
Recordings uploaded on social media depict the chopper starting to spin above the shoreline then plunging in the direction of the perimeter of the shore, where it becomes wedged amidst palms and a set of stairs near the Pacific Coast highway.
Local firefighters stated five individuals were taken to hospital involving a pair who were in the aircraft and were “extracted safely from the crash site” subsequent to the incident on the weekend.
Three persons on the road were hurt. Specifics on their injuries were not yet released.
The cause of the crash was not yet disclosed.
The department said the aircraft was associated with an annual “Cars N Copters” charity gathering scheduled for the next day.
